We all scream for ice cream... but what about ice cream inside a fruit roll-up? We know it might sound crazy, but if there's anything we've learned from TikTok over the last few years, it's that unexpected food recipes like Creme Egg croissants and garlic parmesan pizza rolls are actually so worth the hype!
That leads us to the latest of the trending TikTok recipes: a surprisingly delicious ice cream and fruit roll-up combo. The original recipe video posted by @golisdream on TikTok now has over 9 million views and a million likes—and it's easy to see why!
The sweet treat is easily made by taking your ice cream flavor of choice, placing a dollop in the center of a fruit roll-up, then wrapping it all up in a sugary burrito-like package. But here's the best part: when combining the two ingredients, the snack instantly freezes, giving the wrap a cool and crunchy texture. Yes, crunchy! 😍 No wonder people are raving about it... including Alex Drummond!
Alex took to her Instagram stories to give the TikTok snack a shot, saying: "The second I saw it, I was like, 'I have to try this.'" In the original recipe, the dessert is made using Breyers mango ice cream and a strawberry fruit roll-up, but Alex put her own spin on it and opted for Haagen Dazs vanilla bean ice cream instead. Yum! After rolling it all up (and successfully evading George's attempts at a bite), she dug in. That post-first bite expression says it all!
"Oh wow! That's actually so good... that is tasty!" She continued with, "Oh my gosh! Why is that so much better than I expected?" Okay, that's some high praise!
She also tried the trend with a tropical fruit roll-up, but her and Mauricio both agree that strawberry is the way to go. Though with so many different ice creams out there, the flavor combinations are practically endless! According to Alex, the snack is a little hard to chew and can be pretty messy, but that doesn't take away from how much she enjoyed it. Just make sure to have some napkins on hand.
Now all that's left to say is: Thank you TikTok for another delectable dessert! Will you give this one a try? Let us know in the comments below.
